Planning approval has recently been granted for the demolition of an existing dwelling and the erection of a replacement dwelling near Weston-super-Mare in Somerset.
On the site of an old bungalow, a new eco home has been designed to maximise this sitewith far reaching views.
This new home, is a nod at modernist architecture. The proposal is for a construction of a 4 bed detached dwelling. There is parking space for 3 cars.
The proposed dwelling has been carefully designed not to dominate neighbouring properties and to minimise overlooking to or from neighbouring properties. This is to be a high quality construction with a high level of energy performance. Over 15% of the energy consumption is expected to be generated by renewable energy PV panels.
The new property presents a modern individual style. To take advantage of the views and to benefit from solar gain, large areas of glazing are proposed for the south elevation. These are formed from narrow framed dark grey aluminium composite sliding sashes and some fixed glazing that allows the occupiers to enjoy the external ground floor veranda and the first floor balcony.
High quality materials have been selected. Front elevation: timber cladding Rear and side elevations: smooth render Plinth: engineering brick Roof: standing seam metal roof with PV panels Balcony: grey metal trim and glass balustrade
