Mixed-use scheme, Islington
Master-planning and design of a mixed-use scheme to provide shared work-space and ten new apartments, comprising part conversion and part new-build.
Managed by Geoff Pyle, the scheme remodeled and extended a mix of Victorian brick and steel buildings, creating a new landscaped courtyard which acts as an entrance and source of day-light for the offices. Apartments are entered separately and all have main spaces addressing the street.
The project is based around a holistic sustainability and energy strategy developed by specialists XCO2. The 'brown' roof is by Marie Clarke; low energy systems, natural ventilation and day-lighting are key parts of the concept.
