St Michael's School, Highgate
London

The school wanted to relocate its library and incorporate a computer teaching space. The building available was a Victorian hall, listed, and used mainly as a corridor between other rooms.

The project, carried out over the school holidays, created two connected learning spaces by building timber and glass walls with built-in work-surfaces and shelves. The proportions of the new construction and the timber panelling are based on classical forms and systems of proportion, so can be a learning device if ever they are analysed by students.
