The site on Bridgwater’s High Street, had been in poor condition, the staircase to the first floor was missing, the upper floors had become hazardous and the leaking attic was home to a flock of birds, whilst the yard was used to store festival equipment and the rear wall was a patchwork of repairs.
Somerset Film wanted to create flexible new workspaces, provide circulation links to existing offices and studios and create a fully accessible building. The new scheme achieves this by adding a new three-storey extension with partial demolition of the existing building whilst retaining the original frontage. You can read more about this project here.

Our small team is often joined by architectural undergraduates looking for a short work placement during their holidays. The aim is to provide them with the opportunity to consolidate their knowledge in a busy work environment. Our experience has always been that we gain as much from our students, as we hope they do. They know cool stuff and have nothing to lose. This year we have enjoyed our time with Jake and wish him every success in his studies.
If YOU are interested in a work placement, please email us your cv and portfolio.

We began championing the O2i Design crane in March 2014. This is not a construction hoist but a majestic native wetland bird. As part of the Great Crane Project, Skye hatched in September 2013 and spent last year as part of the non-breeding flock on the Somerset Levels. We think, we occasionally see Skye flying over our Langport office, as her favourite feeding spot is close by on Aller Moor.
