The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings

Did you know that “The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings” (also known as SPAB) is a statutory consultee for listed buildings in England and Wales?

The SPAB is one of six National Amenity Societies that must be notified by local planning authorities of all applications involving total or partial demolition of a listed building. This gives them the opportunity to comment on a proposed scheme. You can now keep informed using their online database.

You can now monitor the status of an application with their casework team (including that of The Georgian Group, ArchaeologyUK and The Victorian Society) with an online database here. Please use “The Public access” button (top right-hand side), which provides access for non-registered users for searching purposes.

To notify them officially of an application or to request pre-application advice, you can email them directly at [email protected].
