The trustees of this Somerset Church came to O2i Design looking for a scheme to expand and improve their current facilities.
The trustees needed help to rationalise and extend their space. Their congregation required additional space to accommodate all its activities, including worship facilities, toddler and children groups, and the courses they run on-site.
Improved facilities would allow the Centre to carry out its work in an improved environment, accessible to all. In contrast, larger facilities would be flexible, enabling their activities to thrive and increase. These activities include worship, teaching, pastoral care, overseas mission support, youth and children work from toddler groups to youth summer camps and ecumenical projects. To help the Trust consult with their parishioners, O2i Design produced illustrations to ensure everyone could visualise the available options. O2i Design Consultants endeavoured to create a warm, peaceful new space capable of welcoming many visitors of all ages and flexible enough to meet the needs of all the group’s activities.
The challenge has been to enhance the existing buildings within a restricted site and increase the accommodation to improve the Centre’s many activities without adversely affecting them. South Somerset District Council have granted Planning approval, and Building Regulations drawings submitted.
