Technology CentreSunbury on Thames, Surrey
This Technology Centre was the winning entry for a competition for BP, carried out by dlp. The company has evolved considerably since being founded in 1908. Today it is looking towards a new mix of energy sources as the world shifts towards lower-carbon. The building is located on the Sunbury-on-Thames site. It is ‘home’ to staff from across the globe, working in international teams, driving technological advances.
The project involved full design services through to completion . The end-users were closely involved to provide solutions to highly specific research needs. The requirement for locating small-scale development rigs with highly sensitive analytical equipment in a building which could later be converted to office space was a complex problem. The solution was logical and flexible with an openness which will encourage interaction and innovation. There are no services risers within the floor plates which give uninterrupted flexibility for the continually changing requirements of a research facility. With dlp.
