Rural live/work unitsLangport
O2i Design is delighted to have designed, gained statutory permissions and overseen the build of this project for rural live/work units. This development is a terrace of four self-build homes near Langport, and the first two homes were completed in 2022.
Working patterns have altered in recent years, and many companies are facilitating working from home. With this in mind, O2i Design has created four dwellings with a live/work purpose that meets the needs of the home-based worker. The houses are built on the site of a disused farm building. In keeping with the agricultural area, the new homes are timber framed, with a timber shell. The timbers were cut off-site and assembled with exposed internal glulam beams onsite.
The houses benefit from several sustainable features. The properties enjoy state-of-the-art energy efficiency construction features, including heavy levels of insulation, high-specification hybrid double glazing, and heating provided by an air-source heat pump connected to underfloor heating. The rooms are warm, flooded with natural lights, spacious and flexible, ensuring that the new owners can enjoy the space to live and work comfortably in an energy-efficient home.
